No child should serve their parents sentence. We walk alongside children of incarcerated parents, their caregivers, and imprisoned parents across Zimbabwe — providing education, food, counseling, livelihoods, and a path forward. Proven. Registered. Delivering since 2019.
The problem we are solving
In Zimbabwe, at least 15,000 children currently have a parent in prison. Over 60,000 children have experienced parental incarceration. They face poverty, stigma, school dropout, and deep trauma — yet the criminal justice system rarely considers their needs at any stage from arrest to release.
Jedidiah Trust exists to see them. Every year we work directly with 250+ children, 300+ inmates, and up to 150 caregivers — and we have been doing this, with proven results, since 2019.

Training and resources for grandparents and guardians stepping in to raise these children.
Life skills training
Practical skills that build resilience and open doors for children and young people.
Psychosocial care
Counseling and emotional support for children carrying the weight of a parent’s absence.
Family reintegration
Preparing families for reunion after release — so children don’t lose their parent twice.
Community outreach
Workshops and awareness that reduce stigma and build community support networks.
Why Jedidiah Trust?
1.We serve the children no one else is serving– Most child welfare funding in Zimbabwe targets orphans, HIV/AIDS-affected children, or education access broadly. Jedidiah Trust’s specific focus on children of incarcerated parents gives us a distinct, defensible case — and means our beneficiaries have virtually no alternative support.
2. We work with the whole family, not just the child – We support the child, their caregiver, and where possible the incarcerated parent — all at once. This whole-family model is what breaks the cycle. Treating the child in isolation leaves the family intact but unchanged.
3.We have an active government partnership and a proven track record – We hold a formal MOU with Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services and the Department of Social Development. We have delivered four institutional grants — funded by Canada, the United States, and Australia — with two explicitly recorded as having achieved all targets.
Featured project — Chegutu Farm, Suri Suri

In Chegutu, Jedidiah Trust runs a 6-hectare farm — complete with a borehole and drip irrigation — where caregivers of incarcerated parents and ex-inmates grow food and build income together. In our pilot season, 20 caregivers working just 2 hectares produced 5.5 tonnes of maize. At full capacity, the property can yield 25 tonnes. This is not charity. This is transformation.
